The Warnings Signs of a Poor Wall Coatings Company

A simple Internet search for UK companies providing external wall coatings brings up literally thousands of results within seconds, which suggests that these companies number in the thousands.

Although this might be the case, it can also be assumed that not all of these companies operate in the same way, and although it would be nice to think they were, some may be less trustworthy than others.

With that in mind, any customer who wishes to protect themselves and their own interests should remember that there are certain warning signs that a company may not be as capable and trustworthy as they appear.

Sign 1: thou shalt be grateful

Many traders use the medium of a free gift or even arrive with a present for the homeowner as a way of not only starting conversation but ensuring that their prospective customer feels grateful and therefore obligations to speak to or with them. Once they have begun conversation in this way, it is very difficult for the homeowner to say no or turn them away.

Sign 2: buy this NOW!

A further warning sign is when the caller uses a sense of urgency. They may tell the customer that they have a limited edition offer on or that the property is unsafe; however, the truth is often that the company in question wants their customer to just say yes there and then, rather than have the opportunity to think about the matter and possibly talk themselves out of it.

Sign 3: the hard sell

Hard selling techniques are often cleverly disguised, and the sales person in question may be highly skilled. However, the signs of a hard or high pressure sales technique are easy to spot if the person being asked knows what to look for. Examples are that the sales person gets their prospective customer to say yes. They may ask them questions which are designed to build up to the customer agreeing to the work in question. The aim of these questions is to get the customer so used to saying yes to the sales person that they do not want to disagree with them when it comes to that final question.

Sign 4: the testimonials

Customers are often made to feel that they will love the work, they will be overjoyed and they will join the ranks of the many customers who have gone before them. They may be offered testimonials by these previous customers, all of which will be unavailable to actually speak with.

Sign 5: the endorsement

This is the biggest sign that a customer is about to be ripped off. Poor quality companies often like to pretend that their service or product is endorsed by an expert, independent body or even a celebrity.  They may associate themselves with a charity or an organisation which, when checked, will have never heard of the company in question. However, the company will claim this association in order to develop a layer of trust with the customer.
